Digital Production Assistant – Penguin Group (New York)
January 2011 to February 2011 – Full time temp
● developing a workflow to bring digital production in house
● exporting ePub and Web PDFs from InDesign files
● cleaning up ePub files to conform to various distribution platform specifications and creating .mobi files that conform to Kindle specifications
● creating scripts to maximize effeciency and minimize manual changes in the process
Production Assistant - NYU Press (New York)
January 2009 to November 2010 – 20 hours per week
● typeset manuscripts from word documents to print ready PDFs
● scanned, reconstructed and digitally cleaned individual images for print
● created production estimates for books, increased the accuracy of these estimates
● automated InDesign and Photoshop processes to streamline the typesetting process
● designed new InDesign templates for Fall 2009 and Spring 2010 seasons
● prepared backlist titles for print-on-demand and eBook publishing (Spring 2010)
Production Intern – Pomp & Circumstance (Brooklyn)
January 2009 to present – as needed
● assisted the graphic designer and created InDesign templates to ensure consistency
● implemented a workflow tracking system to improve scheduling
● developed a fully working financial plan for future growth
Editorial Intern – The Huffington Post (New York)
October 2009 to January 2010 – two days a week
● curated the best online content available and posted it to the website
● monitored breaking news stories throughout the day, and updated articles as necessary
● created slideshows and other interactive features to drive traffic
Production Intern - NYU Press (New York)
January 2008 to January 2009 – 15 hours per week
● Created production estimates for books
● Imported Word documents into InDesign, cleaned up files
● Created new templates for the spring season
● Implemented new Word templates to streamline the typesetting process
● Prepared images to be placed into manuscript, from scanning to digital clean up
Marketing and Rights Intern – NYU Press (New York)
May, June and August 2008 – 20 hours per week
● Updated website with Fall books and new reviews
● Created and edited records in Filemaker
● Created mailing lists for books, then sent advance reader copies and press releases to various media outlets and bookshops
● Investigated copyright permission requests from universities and copyright infringement of NYU Press content online
● Assisted with the general running of the office, including answering phones and sorting mail
Interim Events and Awards Coordinator – NYU Press (New York)
July 2008 – 20 hours per week
● Submitted NYU Press books for relevant various awards
● Ran the NYU Press booth at the Harlem Book Festival
● Created relevant flyers for academic conferences and shipped relevant supplies
Research Editor – Crimson Publishing (London)

● Worked on the Summer Jobs Worldwide 2008 title
● Revised and updated job entries from the old editions
● Verified information regarding visas and country specific details
● Copy-edited the manuscript once it had been compiled

● Managed a team of 30 students to produce a fortnightly paper
● Formalized the accounting and business practices of the paper
● Instigated a highly successful marketing campaign
● Implemented a complete redesign of the paper
● Created and secured advertising for a St Andrews wall planner

Second World Summit on the Information Society (Tunis)

● Formulated policy on various topics to present at the Youth Forum
● Networked and negotiated before the summit to publicize our policy
